Schoolyard Cleanup

Canada is among the world’s most water-wealthy nations. Home to the planet’s longest coastline and one-fifth of the earth’s freshwater, we’re incredibly fortunate to have this abundance, but we need to protect it.

The Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup, presented by Loblaw and Coca Cola Canada, is a joint conservation initiative between Ocean Wise and WWF-Canada. Since 2004, hundreds of thousands of students, teachers, workplaces and community groups have helped prevent more than 1.8 million kg of litter from entering aquatic habitats.

Plan Your Own Schoolyard Cleanup

Next school year, we’ll be calling on students, educators and schools from coast to coast to coast to help protect fish, turtles, birds and other wildlife living near your shores with our national Schoolyard Cleanup. Let’s stop litter before it has a chance to enter our waterways. Register your schoolyard cleanup and contribute to citizen science by submitting your litter data results to national and international databases.
